Bottom filling ink tank advantage:

There are several benefits to using IB V2 ink tanks compared to the traditional 'top fill' type refillable tanks:

1) The ink filling plugs are not at risk of making contact with adjacent printer parts and falling out. The plugs are sandwiched between bottom of ink tank and the ink carriage.

2) As V2 tanks are supplied prefilled, the ink sponges tend to absorb ink LOT easier when refilling - compared to dry sponges of empty tanks.

3) For the same reason the V2 tanks/sponges are less likely to need priming.

4) Because the air hole is sealed during refilling, there is virtually no risk of overfilling the internal sponge and the ink leaking after filling.

About auto-reset chips:

Refilling ARC ink tanks does not reset the ink levels automatically. Ink tank levels can only be reset (to full) - by removing ink tank from printer momentarily - when printer displays 'ink out' condition for that tank. Removing ink tanks any other time should not change the ink monitor levels.
