Most Lexmark ink cartridges can be refilled, but it is important to refill them as soon as, or before the cartridge is empty for best results. Colour ink cartridges should be refilled as soon as one colour stops fading out. Leaking can be a problem due to over filling - easy to rectify by removing the excess ink.
Do Lexmark ink refills work with all Lexmark printers?
More and more Lexmark printers come fitted with "RETURN PROGRAM" cartridges. These "self destruct" once the included amount of ink is used and can not be refilled. The "return program" Lexmark cartridges include: #14, 15, 23, 24, 28, 29, 36, 37, 41, 42, 100 etc. None of these are refillable!
There are optional Lexmark "non return" cartridges available for some models - but not all. These are usually marked as "A" in the Lexmark cartridge part number (eg: #14 is not refillable but #14A is).
